This fun activity for all ages uses storytelling and a simple card game to help children develop language skills, creativity, and self-confidence by reading, identifying story elements, and creating their own stories

Step-by-step Guide
1. Prepare a book and have some of the characters in printable form.
2. Print out the story template and build a book out of its pages. Plain computer paper is enough.
3. Print the elements of the story and a small storytelling game using the designed cards on cardboard (thicker paper).
4. Read a story from the book, identify with the children the elements of the story.
5. Play a little storytelling card game.
6. Choose a character and create a story starting with it: use crayons to draw the story, scissors to cut and glue elements in the story or writing for creating the story.

- Other languages –The templates are very easy to adapt to any language, one needs only the books in a new language.
- Bilingual/multilingual options – Stories can be written in any language, illustration can contain texts in different languages
- Cultural contexts – You can take as a base a fairy tale of the country of origin or the country of residence
- Other age groups – Can be adapted to any age
- Distance learning options – Materials can be shared online and the activity can be done / explained to the group of parents/teachers via zoom
- Challenges – If a group of kids has a very different level of languages and skills, it may require assistance from parents and variety of materials printed. It’s better enquire language and skills information from parent before the workshop to design the activity properly.
